1. What is CLAT?

 CLAT is the Common Law Admission Test, a national-level entrance exam for admission to law programs in India. It is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities with its head office in Bengaluru, Karnataka. 

 

2. What are the types of CLAT exams?

CLAT offers UG (for undergraduate programs) and PG (for postgraduate programs) exams. CLAT scores are required for 23 National Law Universities and are also accepted in over 70 other law schools including GGSIPU, Amity Law School, IIM Rohtak, KR Mangalam University etc. to seek admission 

 

3. What are the eligibility criteria for CLAT?

For UG CLAT, candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum percentage (45% for unreserved students and 40% for SC/ST communities). For PG CLAT, Candidates must have an LL.B degree or its equivalent with a 50% score for unreserved students and 45% for SC/ST communities.

 

4. How can I apply for CLAT?

An online form is available on the website https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/ after you have completed the registration requirements. Complete the online application form available before the requisite deadline along with the registration fees and your application for CLAT shall be registered. 

 

5. What subjects are included in the UG CLAT exam?

UG CLAT typically includes English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics. UG CLAT is typically a 2-hour test with MCQs. Effective preparation involves self-study, joining a reputable CLAT coaching institute, practicing with mock tests, and staying updated with current affairs.

 

6. When is the CLAT exam usually held?

The CLAT exam is typically held on the first Sunday of December every year. The accurate dates can be checked on the official CLAT website.

 

7. Are there any age limits for CLAT eligibility?

No. Unless there are any specific bye-laws of a particular institution, then there may be variations, however, CLAT can be taken by any person of any age. 

 

8. What is the scoring system for CLAT?

CLAT uses a +1 for a correct answer, -0.25 for a wrong answer marking system for multiple-choice questions. 

 

9. Can I get financial assistance for CLAT coaching?

Some coaching institutes offer scholarships and financial aid to deserving students. You can reach out to your desired institution to inquire for the specific details.

 

10. How can I download my CLAT admit card?

The admit card will be issued a few days before the exam. It can be downloaded by accessing your login account using your CLAT user id and password. Candidates should note that no hard copy of admit card will be sent to any of the candidates or not even through emails. Candidates must ensure that every information printed on the CLAT admit card is correct and in case of any misprint including spelling mistakes, they should immediately bring it to the notice of CLAT authorities.
